Regional Planning Conference Coming to Manchester
The annual conference of the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association (NNECAPA) will be hosted this month in Manchester on September 7th and 8th at the Taconic Hotel. This year’s conference is BYOB – Bring Your Own Bike, that is! Attendees will be encouraged to hop on bikes to explore the Manchester area in between presentations on new technologies for the planning profession, food systems development successes, experiences in public engagement, and more. Click here to view the full schedule of sessions and workshops.
Though the conference is organized by American Planning Association (APA) members based in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, conference attendance is open to all. The conference will overlap with a three-day design charrette through which Manchester residents will articulate a vision for downtown development. Beginning Wednesday evening, several charrette and conference sessions will probe Manchester issues and pilot solutions through pop-up demonstrations, walking street assessments, and interactive brand development. Even if you can’t sign up for the two-day conference, feel free to drop in at the public charrette sessions to see planning in action.
Other notable attractions include a farmers’ market mixer Thursday afternoon, a drone data-gathering demonstration, downtown and farm tours, and, of course, beautiful downtown Manchester. See you there.
