Green Building Cluster and Southern VT Business Accelerator

The BCRC and BCIC recently hosted Frank Knott and Jim Haguewood from Vital Economy, as well as Adam Grinold, Laura Sibilia and Kristin Mehalick from the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC)/SeVEDS, our economic development partners in Windham County. Vital Economy was the consulting team that worked with the Windham Region to develop its acclaimed comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) and the firm has been hired to help that region build out its Green Building Cluster (a priority business sector identified in the CEDS based upon an evaluation of assets in the region) and to develop a feasibility study for a Southern Vermont Business Accelerator.

In Bennington, Vital Economy met with the Bennington Economic Development Partners, discussed regional energy planning and development issues, toured the Lightning Jar co-working space, and met with a group of local business leaders. The goal of all the sessions was to have the Vital Economy and BDCC outline the two projects to people in our area and to begin to explore ways to expand these projects in the Bennington Region. Both of these projects represent outstanding opportunities to continue and expand upon our collaborative economic development efforts with Windham County.
