BCRC Receives $50,000 from Vermont Legislature to Build Regional Economic Development Capacity

The Vermont Legislature approved $50,000 for the BCRC to begin to build the regional economic development capacity required to implement the recommendations of the Southern Vermont Economic Development Zone Report. This money will be utilized to build a steering committee of primarily private-sector representatives to partner with Windham County to create a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Southern Vermont. This work will build off the existing work in the Windham Region and will meet the requirements of the United States Economic Development Administration for developing a CEDS. The creation of a Southern Vermont CEDS was the primary recommendation of the Southern Vermont Economic Development Zone Report, and there was an understanding that the Bennington Region first needed to build the capacity for doing this work before it could be an adequate partner with the Windham Region. BCRC is expected to receive the funding and to begin the work in July.
